Building Bridges

In our current day, it seems like we are getting better at creating separations, divisions, and contention. This likely means that we should do more to ensure that parents, children, and everyone learn more about how to build bridges and create unity.

Here are 5 things you can do right now:

  1. In your family, emphasize both how people are alike and how they are different.
  2. Emphasize the importance of talking through differences rather than arguing or getting angry.
  3. Teach good question asking and listening skills.
  4. Encourage kind communication and problem-solving behavior, such as saying, “I might be wrong” or “Each person has an important point of view that deserves to be heard,” and try to find the good in what other people think.
  5. See our courses on Emotional Resilience & Self-Reliance and The Best Way to Improve Your Marriage. And check out episodes in the Uniting series on our podcast Do What Matters Most.
