ABUSE RECOVERY: Children & Adults |
Perhaps the most devastating effect of abuse–when not adequately resolved early–is that it not only affects childhood, but can also carry into adulthood and negatively impact life and relationships. Not only are the victims of abuse affected, but their family is as well–and as a result entire generations can be hurt from abuse. Children Knowing how to recognize the signs of an abused child and then how to help the child heal and regain hope and trust is essential. Adults These consequences often show up when abused individuals seek to marry or participate in other emotionally intimate relationships. The trauma of abuse can have significant impact on a person's ability to receive love, adding strain to a marriage and possibly leading to depression. It is not uncommon for a couple's marital problem, or parents' challenges with children, to be the manifestation of past abuse. Abuse robs people of experience with positive emotions and healthy relationship development and leaves a path of distrust and an inability to feel accurately, interpret, and express love. This membership was created for adults who are living with the effects of abuse, and it is for parents who need support helping a child heal from abuse. The membership enables you to learn the signs and indications of abuse, the effects of this mistreatment, and how to eliminate lasting consequences. You can learn how to adapt your family life in a healthy manner to successfully promote recovery–in yourself and abused children–and reverse the ugly consequences of what may be a trans-generational cycle of abuse.
